Problem with subscribing to a forum

Post by Alan Baxter »

I haven't received any email notifications for new posts to any of the NoScript forums. I verified I've subscribed to all three of them in my User Control Panel. I verified it contains my correct email address. Gmail has not quarantined any email messages from the forum as spam. Does it work for anyone else?

Subscription is working fine for me, both to forum and single topics.
The fact you're getting other kinds of email from the forum should exclude spam filtering issues.
Could you check your email preferences in User Control Panel|Board Settings?

I'm subscribed to this topic now. If anyone can post a test reply in the next half hour or so, I'll post whether notified. (Else might be 12-18 hours. Work/sleep/eat, you know: trivial stuff.)

No notification here either. (Yes, works with NS logo solid red, except you don't get smileys etc.) Will check the control panel etc. in a minute.

You are not subscribed to any forums.

says the Control Panel, even though I was subscribed to this one and to Nan M.'s, I thought. Observation:

Blank checkmarks next to the topics. Tried to "check all". Doesn't work without scripting. Did that. Won't save the page with Adblock (minus). Allowed all the page. Still doesn't seem to work. Might have to log out and back in. Back in a minute.

OK, I dug my SMTP logs and found email is sent by the forum, but blocked by the SMTP server.
Working to fix it. The weird thing, though, is that I was under the impression you actually got messages from the forum, notification aside. Did I misunderstand?

@ ma1:

There's a problem here in Control Panel > Manage Subscriptions. All scripting enabled and Adblock disabled. The checkboxes on individual threads (this one and "About ruddy time") indicate I'm subscribed. But the checkboxes in Control Panel are blank. If I check them, there's no way to save the change. I leave the page, come back, and they're blank again.

I see this board doesn't read sw profile. XP SP2, Fx 2.20, NS 1.9.1.2, Adblock original, nothing else pertinent. (Sandboxie, but that affects only local content, not choices stored on a forum or other web site.) I'm offline for the day now -- hope this gives you a place to look, as I don't seem to be doing any better than Alan. Mail provider is Yahoo, and address verified as correct. Is it maybe that you and others have local email clients (Thunderbird, Outlook, etc.), and the problem is with webmail, since Alan is using Gmail and I'm on Yahoo? Anyone else: any difference between those with local mail client and those with webmail? Cheers for the day,
Tom.

Yet another test

[Edit]

It seems to work fine now (got a notification on GMail, and the logs say everybody else watching this topic did as well).

That's normal.
All the topics listed there are watched, no matter the status of the checkbox: those checkboxes are meant to "unwatch" the topics you've flagged as soon as you push the "Unwatch" button.

Somebody pushed the right button. I finally received a mail. Maybe the siesta timer? :)
