Flashgot media finds stream, but can't download it

Post by josephj »

This probably isn't a bug, but could you look at it?

Flashgot finds this stream (which plays fine), but gets a 403 error - denied - when trying to download it.
Maybe the app can tell that it's a downloader rather than just a player buffering.

Tried using DownThemAll, Wget, and browser built-in as the actual downloaders.

Thanks for taking a look.

Unfortunately the site seems to generate a one-time code for each clip: if you reuse the url (as done by FlashGot) permission gets denied :(

Works for me.
Just left-clicked FlashGot Media icon, gets sent to Net Transport & down it comes.

Thanks for checking.

I thought it worked just now, but it re-downloaded the previous unrelated download. It was weird.

Now, I hacked it by selecting Flashgot Link (instead of Flashgot Media). That got me the code page that plays the stream.

I manually edited that and extracted the stream URL from it and put that through wget on the command line.

Code: Select all

wget http://media.soundcloud.com/stream/zmFwFyw8zAs5?secret_token=s-DtHaM\u0026amp;stream_token=DtHaM
and that worked (I forgot to use -O to rename it, so I got an ugly file name to start with).
