It separates video into small pieces during downloading

Post by mebanna »

Flashgot handle small videos well, meanwhile it seems not to be able to handle bigger videos which is over 10 minutes or more. It just separate a bigger video into lots of small pieces, and here is a snapshot about how it separate a bigger video on youtube:

Another extension of firefox, named "DownloadHelper", handle these bigger videos pretty well. As the snapshot below, it recognize the video as a whole one, and differs versions with different deminsions, 480p, 320p..etc.
BTW, DownloadHelper is really sweet on naming downloaded files.

Flashgot has advantages on many other aspects, and it would be perfect if this little problem could be fixed.

Sorry, I can't reproduce.
I get just one entry with sized 43MB by default, and another sized 59MB if I select the 480 item.

Does the problem happen to you as well on a clean profile with just FlashGot?

Thanks very much, it do work !
Following your guide, I made a clean profile, and the problem didn't occur anymore.

To find out the reason, I installed all extension into the clean profile, and the problem didn't occur yet.
Then, I tried to restore cookies, by simply copy the "cookies.sqlite" from the old profile folder to the clean profile folder, and the problem occurred.
To confirm with that, I launched firefox with the old profile(which have the problem), and cleaned all cookies from the OPTION window, well, the problem gone.
So, that's the reason, the "cookies.sqlite", and I don't konw why yet.

So, that's the reason, the "cookies.sqlite"
Thinking that it is the Youtube (or related) cookies rather then the cookies.sqlite file itself.

Copy your "bad" cookies.sqlite over, delete the existing *.youtube.com cookies, & see if that alone doesn't fix things?

Note that a site like Deezer purposely "breaks" songs as a protection mechanism. (I've read it's called, "spitted & hashed".)

This is one song, Sieben (view image to see full size):
