Hi I've downloaded a youtube video but all I can see green screen. No video and no sound.

If you downloaded a "DASH" variety, you need to download both the audio & video, separately, then Mux them together.

Cheers for the quick reply. Nope that is not the problem. Everything from youtube turns out green and nothing more even though the download was completed. Use a different downloader (http://www.yourvideofile.com/) the download seems fine. I'm on a mac 10.5.8, Firefox 15.0.1 and the latest flashgot.

Are you using the same player in each case?
Perhaps it is a codec issue on your end?

The opening frame is "green", "The preview has been approved...", maybe your player is barfing on the clip?

Suppose you can get (a current) MPlayer for a Mac to try as an alternative player?

Nope it's not barfing and Mplayer wasn't the answer as well.

As you can see from the picture, this was the result. The anomaly here is that the grey highlighted file came with the number 00:00 as info but the vid itself is 02:46. No sound at all if I scrub the video and the file size is still, 22mb.

If you download the (non-DASH) '8MB medium video/mp4', what do you get?

The clip downloaded with the other app, if you inspect that with a file viewer of some sort (or hex editor) do the first number of bytes show "dash"?

IOW, something like "ftypdash...iso6avc1mp41...moov" or "ftypmp42...isommp42...moov"?

Couldn't copy and paste the code but yeah starts with something similar.

Still having the same problems. Ah well, guess I just use the other downloader after all.
