[request] improved renaming

Post by agaxwmtp » Fri Jan 11, 2013 10:46 pm

I use Flashgot + Downthemall

===========================================

Flashgot could use selected text as the file name.

An example is - you're on somebody's blog and when you go to download the video the file name will become "99834glob.mp4"

Since I use Downthemall the rename mask is

Code: Select all

*name*.*ext*

Off the page somewhere I end up copy and pasting the "real" title and fixing the file name. If the video is called "A swimming bald eagle" The rename mask is

Code: Select all

A swimming bald eagle.*ext*

and the file will be - for example - "A swimming bald eagle.mp4"

Flashgot could "reset" the Downthemall rename mask.

Downthemall is dumb and after a download the rename mask is still:

Code: Select all

A swimming bald eagle.*ext*

And that screws things up. Whatever you're downloading next is also going to be called "A swimming bald eagle.*ext*"

And one-click is even worse - it automatically makes the file that.

===========================================

And - let's be honest - plenty of us download porn. So if the file name is "Nasty porn your significant other wouldn't be pleased with.mp4" - she could learn about it by using your computer and clicking Downthemall or Flashgot.

Hey, honey. Can I talk to you for a minute? I was using your computer and downloaded something. You know what the file name was?

Then you need to turn the tables & ask her, "just what were you downloading" :twisted: !
