Request: PDF support

Post by PreferPrivacy »

I've been using the new NoScript 10 and FF Quantum for a few months now. 1 small thing that I was used to in the old NoScript was handling of PDF files I opened in FireFox.

I use FireFox as my PDF handler. Many people don't realize this, but PDF files can contain Javascript. The old NoScript seemed to extend its usual blocking capabilities to these PDF files opened in FireFox. But the new NoScript just gives the standard "This is a privileged page, whose permissions cannot be configured." message.

My request is to allow us to set options for PDF loading, and thus prevent Javascript from running.

How is it handled currently -- is JS blocked or allowed on those privileged-page messages such as in opened PDF files?

Thanks.

PDF.js (Firefox's built-in PDF reader) does not execute the embedded javascript ( https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/issue ... -282408504 ).

NoScript offers no settings for PDF handling as Firefox itself has plenty of options for that.

Thank you very much for digging up that link and revealing the native JS blocking that FireFox already has for PDFs. Now I feel comfortable again opening up PDF files in FireFox.
