(Windows) NoScript 10.1.5.X locks up on Firefox 57

I can confirm this happening on Windows 10, on 2 different machines. It locks up anywhere from the first site I hit to a couple in. Pages will not load and I can only shut down FF to restore. Trying to go into the noscript config menu while this occurs brings up a Firefox banner saying a website page is slow. Weird I did not experience this issue until I think 10.1.5.x, but now it happens no matter what version I back down to. Renders NoScript completely unusable. Since I can't back down to lower versions to get it to work, could it be related to something in the config files themselves?

Tested on Firefox 57 to 57.0.2
Windows 10 - Fall Creators Update
Happens now on 10.1.2 to 10.1.5.5

bo elam wrote:Hi trowe. I found a few sites being very slow, freezes, locking up with NoScript 10.1.5.5. But things get better with later beta versions. I am on 10.1.5.6rc5. I like this version. The websites that I found problematic with 10.1.5.5 are usable with the version I am at now. Tomorrow, I ll move to the latest beta whatever that is.

I think you should update to stable 10.1.5.6. By the way, I am also in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and using Firefox 57.0.2 since yesterday. The combo I am using of NoScript and Firefox feels pretty good.

Interestingly, one machine seems to have cleared up (knock on wood), the other is still unusable. I can't figure out what made the one work. Trying 10.1.5.6 and then 10.1.5.7 seems to give me a little more time before everything locks up but it still does. I've tried resets, removing the only other addon (uBO) and reinstalling. What can I clean out of the profile or config to completely do a fresh reinstall?

Thanks,
Trowe

You could delete file "storage-sync.sqlite" (thas where NoScript saves settings) from your Firefox profile folder. That would give you a sort of clean install of NoScript after restarting Firefox. No need to uninstall NoScript.

FWIW, versions 10.1.5.7rc2 and 10.1.5.8rc1 feels pretty good in my Windows 10. I just tested a bunch of heavy sites with the latest beta and Firefox behaved pretty decent.

I seem to have it down to one website that consistently causes NoScript to freeze for me. www.feedly.com which is an RSS feed aggregator. I had it pinned so it was always loading on startup, but Firefox only froze when clicking through the feeds. It froze after unpinning and loading it normally too. I seem to be doing well so far without using that site. I'll keep testing. Anybody else use or try Feedly with NoScript 10? I wonder if, because it has so many different sites embedded, that it's overwhelming NoScript?

I did remove the storage-sync.sqlite file, but didn't seem to have any effect on the issue.

How is 10.1.5.9 doing for you?

No change. The website locks up as soon as I start navigating it. I don't have the issue now with any other sites that I've visited.

OK, overlooked that you already pinned the issue down to a single site.

No, I'm not registered on feedly.com

No, you don't. This thread is a slow script issue that occurred when opening NoScript UI or on specific sites. Your issue occurs no matter what after a set time interval and is likely something much deeper.

In any case, a Firefox 57 issue cannot be related to anything current. Additionally, NoScript has no longer supported Firefox 57 since about 5 years ago.
