Fx crashes [even without NS]

Post by Alan Baxter »

Edit: Firefox crashed even after I uninstalled NoScript. Apparently it's not a NoScript problem after all. Giorgio, do the crash dumps give you any hint as to where I should look?

@Giorgio:
I've had five crashes since updating to NoScript 1.9.6.96. There may be a NoScript bug. I've included the following report. Is there any other info I can provide which could be helpful? These were my first crashes since July 4. I had only two crashes in 2009 previous to these five.

Edit: Just crashed using NoScript 1.9.6.94 too.

I've had five crashes since installing NoScript 1.9.6.96 and 1.9.7. They're easy enough to recover from, but it seems like they may be caused by something changed in NoScript. I've had no other extension updates or installs since July 20. Unfortunately, the crashing thread doesn't seem to give any useful information in any of the crashes. Just Crash Reason: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION except one time the reason is EXCEPTION_PRIV_INSTRUCTION. The last time it crashed, I was middle-clicking a link to open it in a new tab.

Note: after each crash I did a recovery. I don't think I actually quit Firefox without just using the restart button since I did a profile backup before installing NoScript 1.9.6.96

OK. Let's clean house:
- Quit Firefox (and backup a copy of the profile folder)
- Reboot the computer
- Delete the following files from the profile folder:
compatibility.ini
compreg.dat
downloads.sqlite
extensions.cache
extensions.ini
extensions.rdf
xpti.dat
- Restart Firefox at 20090725-15:05
