NoScript rules take place across profiles/sessions/etc

Post by sabret00the »

Unblocking something in a private window also unblocks it on your normal profile.

You need to provide a LOT more details if you want help (or a bug fix, if it's a bug). We do not have a resident mind-reader. Image

Is this temporary permission or permanent permission?
What NoScript version?
Have you set 'Permanent "Allow" commands in private windows'?

Is that user-agent the browser that has the problem? If so, what's the build ID (or build revs if it's not an official Mozilla build)?
Is e10s enabled or disabled?

Oh.. and is "unblocking" even to do with script permissions?
What unblocking / what's "something"? A single site, a "Temporarily allow this page" type command, or "Allow Scripts Globally", or something else?

Given the way you worded your post.. are you using separate profiles for private browsing vs normal browsing? (If so, I would think this REALLY odd...)
Or do you mean unblocks it outside private browsing in the same profile?

Also, please be more specific than "profiles/sessions/etc". *Exactly* which of those is it (and what "etc") that's unexpected? Or is it none of those? If you don't know the term for sure, try to describe it.

Please provide *exact* and explicit steps to reproduce, including links - preferably starting from a clean profile with only NoScript installed and all defaults; tell us *explicitly* what you think "should" happen, and *explicitly* what actually does happen for you.

Temporary permissions set in a private window carry over to a normal window
Version 2.6.9.3948 (I'm on the development channel)
Not set to permanently allow
Yes on this laptop and my other one.
It happens on both e10s and non-e10s
Yes unblocking
Nope a single profile
An example is that I block Instagram. Occasionally I need to check Instagram, I'll open Instagram in a private window and temporarily allow the domain, however after closing the window and returning to normal browsing, Instagram will still retain the temporary permissions that were set just for the private window. Basically I'm attempting to file "Permissions set in a private window should be sandboxed there"

Thanks, that's much clearer, except this:

Isn't that an Adblock Plus dev build version? You mean NoScript 2.6.9.26rc3 ?

+1 if this only applies to temporary permissions.

(I seem to recall another thread about this from a while back?... EDIT ah, here it is: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=17144 )

Yup definitely talking about temporary permissions. Thanks for digging up the thread too.

+1

...Still an Issue
If I temporary allow ex. google.com-scripts in a private tab/window. This results in a automatic reload of all the open tabs in all non-privat windows that include google.com sripts in order to activate them. That's absolutely not what I expect to happen and not what I want neither.

FF v.54.0 (32-Bit)
NoScript 5.0.6

Is there an other place where where this behaviour/issue is discussed?
Many thx for the nice work to all the contributors, btw.
