Because I generally NEVER use the browser "built-in" downloader.

My general, every day, all day "downloader" is LeechFTP.
It's light, robust, has a clean interface, & works very well.
It can "snatch" URLs, capturing http: "files".
It supports resume.
Files are "dated" to their "original" date, rather then current. (Important to me.)
Generally does 90% of what I need on a daily basis.
Not to mention, it is an FTP client.

For the times when I need more, then I use a true download manager.
