What would often be nice to have, though, is an option to allow all subdomains, but restrict by protocol. https://*.google.com, etc.This would also be nice to have in ABE - but in ABE, at least, you can always use a regular expression. (Hmm...is it possible/easy to add regex-based whitelisting?)
