No nothing special for security. I think I will totally uninstall Firefox and then reinstall it. the only thing I will keep are my favorites. maybe that will work. Wish me luck. I will let you know how I make out. It will take a couple of days. I have to make sure the wife and kids do not want to us...

So any idea how I can get either FlashGot to work or Firefox to accept it?

No, I put them in a folder called old extensions.

I install flashgot directly into Firefox. I have no option to save it to a different folder. I also tried the new profile by renaming my original. it ssdidn't work. Even though it says I install and I must restart Firefox it still isn't in my addons. I have no idea why it just isn't there

I have no choice where I install Flashgot. It either loads into Firefox or it doesn't download. I never get a choice because the download isn't set up that way. Normally my download manager asks where I want the file when i download but not with Flashgot!

I found and did what you said. Now there is no mention of Flashgot at all on the addons and though I've tried to reinstall it it doesn't reinstall. Nothing there . I can't even reinstall. it just won't reinstall
