Re: Pixel.quantserver.com

It's already blocked in the EasyPrivacy filter subscription for Adblock Plus. True. Many of the issues discussed in the NS forums are border issues that are handled very well by ABP. I'd like to suggest a general recommendation/FAQ about using ABP together with NS on the forum or web site. Most peo...

Re: Salon.com pages no longer loading

Thanks for the update, Alan. It takes some effort to stay up to date on all the good products and forums. What we need is a Mother of all (good) Forums.

Anyway, this gave me a chance to see a few ads. I hadn't seen any of those for years.

Re: Salon.com pages no longer loading

It's apparently Adblock Plus. As soon as I disabled it, the page worked fine. Confirmed. It comes and goes with ABP. I guess it must be an Easylist issue. Maybe salon.com managed to circumvent ABP? Maybe Alan Baxter could report it on the Easylist forum. He seems to be active there, too. Unless it ...

Not malignant, observant! The user changed his mind. This only shows how difficult troubleshooting can be. Good thing that you didn't spend one week on the wrong version. :)

Re: NoScript issues with OLD Firefox 1.5.0.12

Is it not possible that a bug crept in. Yes, the 1.9.2 releases were a bit hasty, right? Further cannot a mod, or whatever, make any comment that they want too. And guess what. Sometimes they'll be right. And sometimes they'll be wrong. Some are more wrong than others. Maybe you need a discussion i...

Re: NoScript issues with OLD Firefox 1.5.0.12

In all fairness you can only keep a software backwards compatible for so long. At some point, the user chooses to stay in the past, they will have to risk having problems. No? Completely irrelevant statement that should not be made by a mod or whatever you are. NS allegedly supports Fx 1.5. If not,...

Re: NoScript issues with OLD Firefox 1.5.0.12

Then I installed NS -- it grabbed 1.9.2.6 of course. I then made a wild guess and installed 1.7.1 -- that worked ok. I then worked my way up to find the first version that didn't work -- 1.8.1 worked, 1.9.1 worked, 1.9.2 didn't, so I was able to narrow it down pretty quickly. This confirms the gene...

Re: Is noscript virus..?

I'm afraid it's the beginning of the end for NoScript :( Not so fast. Nobody with security in mind would want to surf the net without NoScript, and we need ABP as well. I just checked out the new version 1.9.2.5, which was a positive experience, just like 1.9.2 should have been. Let's consider this...

Re: NoScript Sightings

Slashdot has an entry about the ABP "war":

My prediction about the adware hall-of-fame is coming true faster than I had imagined.

Re: Feedback on dev build 1.9.2.3

I hope you're kidding, aren't you? The main difference is that I'm not forcing you in any way to watch my ads. Even now you can opt out from the whitelist whenever you want, and NoScript will keep working just like before . You could call it an adware if it played a jingle whenever you changed perm...

Re: Feedback on dev build 1.9.2.3

My current orientation, which I'll experiment with next FlashGot release, is making the filter adding process more explicit with a prompt on startup, so user can decide if allowing it or not beforehand, rather than reverting the change later (albeit with just two clicks). It's definitely more cumbe...

Re: Feedback on dev build 1.9.2.3

I think it will hurt InformAction in the long run. I agree. This solution will harm the reputation of NoScript. I suggest to make the whitelist available as an ABP subscription to be added by the user. If Wladimir thinks this is a good solution, then he should promote it on his site. He may want to...

Re: Summertime?

No problem here. Windows and the board are showing the correct time here in Colorado. UCP settings: My timezone: [UTC - 7] Mountain Standard Time Summer Time/DST is in effect: Yes. Yes, you have to set the DST manually twice a year. On some forums you lock yourself to the time of the server (plus o...
