Re: Giorgio (& others) why do you use the OS you use?
Dedicated Linux-user here, but I'm going to chime in to support Tom and point out that any devices that can't run Firefox - eg TomTom and PlayStations You are quite wrong on this one. 1. Using OtherOS-$VERSION, one can install FreeBSD on multiple PS3s, set up NFS, and have Firefox-3.5.X/3.X running...

Re: Giorgio (& others) why do you use the OS you use?
This is going to split hairs; but, considering the influence of Linux with TomTom, Android, TiVo, PlayStation, et cetera et al, Microsoft is not the community standard. For one thing: The OS has been bound to the i386/amd64 architectures. There is a small move towards ARM based laptops. Look at the ...

Re: Giorgio (& others) why do you use the OS you use?
Currently, I am using Mepis (Debian rebranded) on a usb because:
1. This laptop is literally falling apart.
2. The IDE interface crapped out.
3. Being the nerd I am, I can make the laptop last until it falls apart completely.
Anyway, how has everybody been?

Re: Need suggestions for ABE USER rules.
My apologies for the late reply. I have a lot going on with school, projects and a personal life. I wanted to state that I saw a post on how to set further options just after my original post. That post will be used to help me in most situations. Mr. Maone, the errors come and go depending on the ve...

Re: Need suggestions for ABE USER rules.
My apologies for the late reply. Setup: Gateway M275 laptop running Mepis Live CD. The hard drive died. I usually download the latest version of firefox and run it from the untarred directory. Firefox settings are: All warnings are enabled. History and cookies are not saved. Javascript limited. Memo...

Need suggestions for ABE USER rules.
I would like to set up the USER rules on ABE to coinicide with the rule set/security limits of my school's routers.
Currently, I am not on campus. I seem to need to disable ABE at times.
Again, please note I am not into bypassing security, I wish merely to increase my own.

A general post about security
First off, I've created this account for the following reasons: 1. To interact with others about computing in general at a level I wish to understand more. 2. To learn what others have done and are doing to improve security. 3 To interact through the internet with another person in a friendly manner...
