Re: Fx extension PDFreader - config advice?

Oh gosh, I get it now - a dumbcluck attaches themselves to security developers and uses them as shields when the dumbcluck begins floundering. I'd call that the remora school of trolling. This hasn't been dialogue at any stage, it's just been a shout down. And a mighty paranoid reaction overall. Any...

Re: Fx extension PDFreader - config advice?

Wow.
Moderator-as-troll-and-sock-puppeteer? - that's a new one on me.
Think I'll pass on any more "dialogue", thanks all the same.

Re: Fx extension PDFreader - config advice?

While it's great to see all this serious advice about general security, I don't quite understand why the thread is still getting hijacked away from Web stuff - particularly because the work I want to put in on Firefox is to help make this highly privileged browser even more privileged and secure on ...

Re: "x"static question

The "static" in these sites is, as far as I know, simply a convention for naming urls of api's that are concerned with delivering mapping content from the top domain. Can't say I've noticed anything other than google static in the NS menu - and this is when google map content is embedded i...

Re: Fx extension PDFreader - config advice?

Tom T, I must apologise for my imprecision in the first post. I was inviting opinions about any problems using an *already installed* PDF.js extension. I believed this was implied by the post title and my observation of its behaviour as "nice and quick[...]" but can understand your disagre...

Re: Fx extension PDFreader - config advice?

My point was that I need to have a pdf reader on the desktop anyway, to open those that are saved to, or created on, the hard drive. The extension does turn Fx into a pdf handler - local files as well as web ones. So at ideal development of this extension, Fx would become all the pdf handler a gene...

Fx extension PDFreader - config advice?

http://www.geek.com/articles/news/this-is-what-firefoxs-built-in-pdf-reader-looks-like-20111027/ This alpha native reader is a project I'd like to support. But only if it doesn't need global font "allow". It appears to render pdf stuff nice and quickly without needing any NS allows - alth...

Re: XSS examples not blocked by Noscript?

That's really great! Giorgio, thank you very much!! +1 because strictly XSS or not, buggy tool or not, NS runs on this system to anticipate both the dangerous and the dumb. Giorgio, we've already donated but not even the most expensive proprietary software offers such generous support as you and yo...

Re: Tbird AM now a Moz browser *without* NS

So porting NoScript (which would be quite a difficult task) is not worth the effort, given the threat model. It looks like my edit of previous post crossed with your answer. Thanks very much for the opinion. This definitely wasn't a request for NS for Tbird - I've turned javascript off, and all sho...

Re: Tbird AM now a Moz browser *without* NS

Is TB considered a "browser" as far as NoScript is concerned? As in can NoScript be installed into a stand-alone TB (while having no other "Mozilla" apps)? Nope. It's acquired all the browser. stuff in config now, but no UI at all, and NoScript install is rejected. Of course I t...

Tbird AM now a Moz browser *without* NS

What kind of holes does Giorgio think are exploitable in Thunderbird 5.0 + now that the Addons Manager has decided that it's allowed to browse from within TBird, and at the same time it's hooked up with all the Firefox plugins on the system while it was at it? Sure I can disable plugins and all othe...

Re: NoScript Icon disappears in Firefox 4

saywot, is it possible to know if your bug is the same as Bug 680802? Maybe you can try to reproduce the bug with a new FF profile and only NoScript installed. Hi Gallimax, Had already read the rolling response to bug 680802--confirming for you here in this thread that my report is exactly this bug...

Re: NoScript Icon disappears in Firefox 4

Reporting a "disappear" that happened immediately after accepting auto-upgrade to 7.0. Steps to produce "disappear": Restarted Fx 6.x at Upgrade Manager prompt. Accepted Mozilla pop-over request at Fx 7.0 start for memory/general machine data. Got returned to previous session - b...

Re: NoScript vulnerability: ctrl-T inadvertently allows site

Welcome to the world of unintended keyboard acceleration effects ;-) Interesting definition of major vulnerability. Permanent whitelisting of a current top-level site that is presumably going to be revisited (because having it in the whitelist isn't going to be a problem if it's never revisited...un...
