It seems like it was acting as if "Status Bar Label" were checked, even though it wasn't. After I checked "Status Bar Label" and then unchecked it again, I'm back to the "invisible icon" behavior.

OK, that was weird. Just after I posted that, NoScript started giving me a button on the add-on bar with verbose text descriptions of the status of scripts on the current page. Not sure what it was doing before. I'd still rather have an icon. I'll go back through the forum and dig through the option...

OK, here's a weird one. I enabled the "Add On" toolbar, and if I select to display icons, then the NoScript icon is there. If I select to display text instead of icons, then the NoScript button is there, but it's invisible. The "IETabs", "UnPlug", and QRCode plugin icon...
