Re: Unexpected behaviour - embedded Flash abc.net.au

Quoth therube Surrogates aside, IMO the behavior is wrong. Going to the site for the first time (as I did today), I did not know what to expect. And could quite easily have missed entirely that there was a video on that page (in the first example). Well, it's a little bit less than magic-meatery, be...

Re: Unexpected behaviour - embedded Flash abc.net.au

Ah, the old Zero Pixel trick ;-) I can live with that. I can now see that the second example is a nice way for the site to attempt to "roll up" the video until it's needed. Oh well, at least they're trying to be cool and hip etc :-) However, for completeness, I tested your mighty sword, oh...

Unexpected behaviour - embedded Flash abc.net.au

A heads-up about unexpected embedded flash video placeholder behaviour. NS 1.9.9.11, all defaults except - block all "Embedded" on trusted. abc.net.au whitelisted. Steps to show unexpected behaviour: Navigate to http://www.abc.net.au/news/video/2009/10/14/2714488.htm, Flash placeholder dis...

Re: [RESOLVED] Firefox/NoScript Issue: /Newsweek

Creating a new Profile would've fixed the problem in around 20 seconds, without any need for a clean reinstall.

Re: How to decide: safe or unsafe?

For a more optimistic view, be aware that even if you don't block Javascript or any plugin content on any web page, NoScript remains protecting your Firefox from most of the current Javascript exploits without your having to change anything - and, more importantly, NoScript is pre-arming Firefox to ...

Re: Feature Request: treat JavaScript like other plugins

That reads as though in this particular case aspirant believes that JS needs to be blocked before navigating to the plugin, if the plugin is to possibly work to aspirant's satisfaction. Hm, I didn't read it that way. I could be wrong, but I got the impression that aspirant wants to allow JavaScript...

Re: Feature Request: treat JavaScript like other plugins

Hi Alan - just popping in on a borrowed portable, and I couldn't go away without putting my 2 cents in here. It's so sad when a NS novice is getting themselves tied in knots and it seems like you've tried every angle to help. quoth aspirant - and I've highlighted what appears to be the central probl...

Re: KeePass or equivalent app

Summary of my opinion: passwords aren't worth a cent if they aren't transmitted securely and if they are worth a cent I don't input them manually. It follows from this that I choose the most convenient way to manage passwords for insecure transmission, and the most secure way to manage them for secu...

Re: Zenfolio.com replaces right-click context menus

dhouwn speaks basic truth - the site is one of those rare things, one that's entirely run by js - both layout and accessibility - and NS, while it can advise of dangerous scripting and hold such scripts up for the user to confirm, can't alter scripts as they run. I would run a mile from using the si...

Re: Bug Report - Google Maps and Mikrotik

I think the google maps problem is that my firefox is corrupted. Ran firefox in safe mode, and still had the problem. Set up a new profile, and it went away. So I'll do a clean install of firefox. If the new clean profile works for you, there's no need to reinstall Fx, unless of course you continue...

Re: 1.9.8.85 update refusing to install

A couple of extra general points about NS updates/versions that may help those who are lost in the Mozilla Addons maze: Firstly: AMO (addons.mozilla.org) is, as can be imagined, one of the most trafficked sites around, so a failure of an extension download from time to time is not unusual, especiall...

I am also unable to confirm any problem with google maps. So that those who do have the experience may help you, would you kindly copy/paste the ABE message/s that you see in Tools|Error Console ? If there are any additional NoScript messages at the same time, these are also needed to diagnose your ...

Re: Help to make it work on a site

I have no clue about allowing other domains except the main one because the streams are not running right now - - but the applet opens the streaming port.
If the user has allowed the applet but still has the port blocked, then firewall software is the most likely place to look to open the port.

Re: I Am A Noob: Is NoScript Right For Me?

Have a look at the NoScript basics http://noscript.net/features#basics Then install NoScript and give it a test run as-is (all the default settings). You don't need any particular experience to run it :-) See if it changes your web experience in a bad way, or a good way. Come back here if you want a...
