Yes.
Duly noted; thanks for that.
Still, the post by Guest appeared to be a direct reply to my response, and Gensou hasn't returned, so I'd still say we're done here, unless there is a new post by Gensou.

Unless the Mod info regards "all" unregistered posters as using a single Guest account, even if they specify a specific username, as Gensou did?
Yes.

Click the ? on Gensou's post and on Guest's post. Do a Find for each on the other's "IP addresses this user has posted from", and you'll find each's current IP in the other's "has posted from".

Unless the Mod info regards "all" unregistered posters as using a single Guest account, even if they specify a specific username, as Gensou did?

In any case, leaving as is, & as Resolved.
Exactly. Either Gensou is satisfied, or has not had a chance to come back and post.
Unless the latter happens, agree that the issue is Resolved, thanks.

No, jerriy & guest are the same, but different from Gensou.

So jerriy's issue is resolved.
Gensou, never clear on the exact issue.

In any case, leaving as is, & as Resolved.

The posts by Guest and by OP Gensou have identical UAs, and the Guest post came from an IP that has also been used bu guest user Gensou.
The language of Guest implied that s/he was responding to my original suggestions about general inability to save preferences.

This is why I believe that this is Gensou responding and narrowing the issue to Bookmarks. I've asked for confirmation, and if Gensou is in fact *not* that guest poster, and indeed has a different problem, then of course we'll investigate further at that time. Many thanks for the prompt fix on Bookmarks.

Please check latest development build 2.4.1rc2 for the bookmark allowance bug.
On a side note, I believe the OP reported a different issue probably caused by a problem with preference persistence in Firefox to be better investigated.

Regression occurred somewhere between noscript-2.4rc1.xpi & noscript-2.4rc6.xpi (where rc1 worked & rc6 didn't - that's all I had on hand).

(probably should split the thread as they're likely separate issues)
No need. Judging by verbiage, IP etc., it appears as though Guest was OP Gensou replying to my post.

In the Guest post, the issue was said to be "opened through bookmarks", which was very different from OP, which indicated that all w/l were broken.
If so, it would have been nice to have had that info in the OP, ;) avoiding going down blind alleys.

@ Gensou:
If this is not true, please say so.

Otherwise, we have two users reporting the same issue, and confirmed by therube, so I'll ask Giorgio to look at this.

Does the issue go away? If so, then there is likely either an extension conflict, or the profile itself was corrupt.
You can add back your other add-ons, matching them one at a time with NS, to see if you can spot the culprit that is interfering with NoScript.

Let us know the results, and if none of this fixes it, we'll proceed in other areas, thanks.
Just dun that - I installed noscript addon in a new test profile but to no avail.

NoScript still banned the bookmarks

It's my computer and I have admin privileges - yet something new happened very recently which causes Noscript to no longer provide bookmark allowance. The question is what?

I have this problem too and it started days ago. Until then I never had any problems with noscript being unable to automatically allow a bookmarked site. And I have used this FF addon on various computers and operating systems (Ubuntu and now in Windows 7 home premium) until now. What happened? And more importantly what's the fix?

Re: Cannot Permanently Allow Websites

Some likely causes are: not having Admin privileges on the machine (or the ability to elevate your privilege to Admin), the use of a sandbox or VM (virtual machine), which must be given write permissions for these settings; other lack of write permissions to the needed areas; accidentally marking prefs.js file as read-only; the use of apps like "Steady State", which return the machine to the previous state after each use to protect against malware, and some other issues discussed in General Troubleshooting Instructions.

Can you save new bookmarks that you create?
Other Firefox settings?

Are other NoScript settings able to be saved (for example, on NS Options > Embeddings tab)?
Change one, close the browser, and restart. Does it save?

Try creating a clean profile from scratch. Install only NoScript, leaving all of the default settings.

(Original Title: Cannot Permanently Allow Websites)
revised 5/8/2012
---

Within the past month or two (apologies for the vague timeline, I did not keep good track of things) I have been unable to permanently allow websites with NoScript. I have no idea if the problem is with my Firefox, other addons, webistes, or NoScript itself.

The most recent example is Nationstates.net, which I attempt to permanently whitelist every time I visit. Unfortunately, each time I close Firefox and open it back up, Nationstates.net is no longer whitelisted. This happened for every website I have attempted to permanently whitelist over the last month, including reCAPTCHA domains and EFF.org. This isn't a deal-breaking problem since NoScript's protection is more important to me than going without, but I am seriously wondering what could be going wrong.

I am running NoScript 2.3.9 and Firefox 12.0 (stable release, I don't run beta/nightly builds). I do not run Firefox Sync on this computer and, as far as I know, nobody else has a Firefox profile on my laptop.

If any more information is needed/requested, I will happily post as soon as I can. If I have posted this in the wrong place or a similar issue has already been reported, terribly sorry, I searched like mad and couldn't find it.

Thanks for looking this over.
