Thanks for the information! I will be looking at uBlock Origin between now and the end of the year, hopefully. I have a few critical sites that are warning they will stop supporting my older FireFox soon, and I am worried I won't be ready if they are not bluffing.

This type of surrogates can be accomplished with uBlock Origin - viewtopic.php?f=18&t=25709

Support for ABE and Surrogates

by skkukuk » Fri Dec 20, 2019 6:06 pm

Long time fan of NoScript - it is a critical part of my online privacy. I am still using FF 56.0.2 because of a heavy dependence on ABE and Surrogates for advanced privacy protection. I don't allow anything from google or affiliates to run on my PC, so surrogates are critical. And I have a ton of ABE rules to implement a default anonymous environment and then specific rules to allow sites to function with minimum exposure - in other words, using ABE to anonymize requests except where I feel it is necessary and safe to allow more than that. And to restrict requests to sites only when requests are coming from those sites (or affiliated sites/domains).

My understanding is that the current NoScript still does not have support for ABE or Surrogates, and I understand that the newer FF architecture makes implementing them difficult. I have searched, and I don't see any news about that support coming any time soon, if ever. But are there any alternatives to these functions that are relatively similar, especially in function if not syntax? Or alternative browsers that are being maintained for modern web technologies - but that can still use NoScript ABE and/or surrogate functions?

Any advice on accomplishing my goals would be appreciated. Thanks!
