Only in combination with Italian software.
But with version 10.1.5.6. of NoScript freezing has stopped. The (complete) loading of the site has still a delay (compared with deactivated NoScript) but as a whole the site is usable again. :)

I can confirm the Bibliothek-site problem too with NS 10.1.5.5.
Be careful if you want to go to that site.
All the open programs were frozen
completely for abt 5 - 10 minutes.

I wonder if all German libraries are like that?

Thanks to you, Bo and tigerjack.

I can confirm both your observations: With version 10.1.5.6rc2 the bibliothek website does not freeze and becomes usable again but it reacts very slow (e.g. when clicking in a link within the website) causing a UPC usage of up to 100%.

Just reporting the same behavior here with Firefox going at 100% CPU usage on the mentioned site.

Pete, I installed beta 10.1.5.6rc2, bibliothek becomes usable. I tested Facebook also, same thing, is fine now with this version. You might want to test it. No freezing. :)

What I meant is that you can test new NoScript versions as they get released in the sandboxed environment, so it doesn't affect your NoScript installation outside the sandbox. In other words, before updating NoScript outside the sandbox, do the update while running Firefox sandboxed, test, and if you feel confident about it, then update NoScript in the real system.

Bo
Makes sense, I believe that would be the first affected version in the stable channel. Judging by https://noscript.net/changelog, 10.1.5.5 is the stable release of the dev builds I mentioned. :)

Thanks for your encouragement, Bo. ;)

Yes, that's a good idea.

Pete, you can move down to that one for now. 10.1.5.2 felt pretty decent when I tested it earlier today.

Pete, I see NoScript right now as an adventure. I have no doubt that in no time Giorgio is gonna have NoScript 10 as stable as the old NoScript. Firefox is my browser because of NoScript, I am not going anywhere. Perhaps you should find a version that feels pretty stable for you and don't move until the next one you feel the same way. With Sandboxie, you can test all NoScripts versions in the sandbox without affecting your real system. Test new versions, in Sandboxie and move after you feel confident about the version you testing. Dont get discouraged.

Hello Bo and barbaz,

thanks a lot for your replies and for your tests.

Good to see that I am not alone with my problem. ;)

I do see a problem on that site, but not quite the one you're describing. For me, only the browser UI freezes, the website is still responsive.

NoScript 10.1.5.6rc1
Firefox 57.0.1
new profile

EDIT
Also, I notice that the script counter on the NS icon bounces erratically before settling at 132. Saw it start a 1, then go up to 143, then back down to 6, and up to 132 where it hung. I don't think any scripts were allowed, so I'm not sure what to make of this.

Hi Pete, that site (bibliothek) felt pretty nasty. Lately, I seen same identical behavior with other sites. I am not a Facebook guy but I testted FB yesterday and it was just like with bibliothek, unusable. I think this freezing issue started with 10.1.5.5. I tested FB earlier today with 10.1.5.1 and 10.1.5.2 and it felt better than with 10.1.5.5. So, you are not alone. :)
