Nothing has changed in the meanwhile in how NoScript handles its settings persistence (through the standard WebExtensios API), neither I can reproduce in my several test profiles, so this most likely has to do with something specific in your Firefox configuration.

And is there any regularity in when this happens (e.g. only on browser restart, on on browser update)?
Could you shere your export file privately, so I can check if there's some (unlikely) configuration-related bug?

i have used the export function in no script to save my site permissions for quite awhile now.
My no script data.txt saves are not more than 14.kb

I NEVER had a problem like this until the last couple weeks or so.

Something has changed by either no script or firefox.

Unfortunately if you've got a lot of data for your extension Firefox Sync can corrupt it because the synchronizable storage for extensions is very limited: ideally you should just store some kind of key and retrieve the other data from a some 3rd party encrypted cloud storage, which is doable but quite problematic to provide for a free privacy-oriented extension.

I wasn't aware of any GUI for that. I guess this means you have a Firefox Account and are using Firefox Sync? If so, see e.g. the Sync mega-thread starting from somewhere on page 7 or 8 - https://forums.informaction.com/viewtopic.php?t=6056&start=105

What version of NoScript are you using?
When your permissions get lost, do you see any related messages in the Browser Console? (Ctrl-Shift-J, select "Multiprocess")

Do you use browser settings to disable IndexedDB and/or [url=https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Add-ons/WebExtensions/API/storage/sync]extension storage.sync[/url]?

You should be able to upload your screenshot to an external image hosting site or cloud storage and link it here.

by site permissions, I mean :trusted. temp trusted, default, untrusted...
I set them up for a page like yahoo, for example and the go back to the page and my choices are all changed back to default

i am not using security/privacy" software which claims to cleanup your online traces

What permissions and what do you mean "reset"?

First of all, thank you very much for having done your research before posting :) (even though cookies and cache managed from inside Firefox shouldn't affect extensions).

You don't use CC Cleaner, but have you got any similar "security/privacy" software which claims to cleanup your online traces?

Are you by any means set Firefox to use private browsing windows everywhere?

I use Firefox
I do not delete cookies when my browser closes
I do not flush from my cache

However, lately I keep having to reset site permissions.
No, I dont use CC Cleaner
