That's good to know and always a good idea to have a confirmation prompt, especially involving such a potentially wide-spread change. Thanks for the heads-up. ;)

I should also add, when you click that Reset button, you get asked for confirmation first -

Code: Select all

ALL the NoScript preferences and site permissions will be reset to their default values immediately.
This action cannot be reverted.
Do you want to continue?

You're welcome. Image

Well, it probably would help, but IMO it's much simpler and easier to just un-check "Reload the current tab only". :)

Oh and btw, I'm assuming that a "clean NoScript" is not going to help as suggested in the topic linked above regarding the reload issue.... :? (which I'm assuming is in relation to the "Reset" button in NS)...

Nope, that button resets ALL the NoScript config completely to default.

FWIW there is a Reset button specific to ABE. But it is *not* the one on the very bottom of NoScript Options.
Just noticed your reply, thanks.... So then regardless of a "Reset" on each page, each of the "Reset" buttons resets ALL NS configurations. WOW, that's misleading, why put an individual "Reset" button on each Options page, when the "Reset" is actually global in nature. I would suggest that the button should state "Reset ALL" in that case, but that's just me.... Looking at the buttons again, I guess the line at the bottom of each Options page represents a separator so to speak in regards to the specific Options on the page. ;)

Thanks for the info, I was correct to be reluctant to try out just to find out.... ;)

I am assuming that this suggestion to "Try clean NoScript settings" and how to do this has to do with the "Reset" in NS -- https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.ph ... 34#p108471 which is why I was asking what the "Reset" buttons in NS actually do....

So whether a "clean NoScript setting" is necessary or not, I'm still curious what the NS "Reset" buttons actually do (I'm frankly reluctant to do a "Reset" because I'm assuming this will result in significant changed that I would not want to occur just to find out).

Thanks Kris for the feedback,

Yes I'm aware of those two options and it has been reported that even with these options ticked (which I've got enabled myself btw) the page does not get reloaded in v5 regardless, but it has also been reported that this was a "bug" early on in the v5 build and has ultimately been fixed.

I do not use v5 myself, I'm just asking because even now it has been reported that v5 still does not reload and it had been suggested to do a "reset" to fix for the current NS release.

Hi Lakrsrool,

Maybe I can help with the second question:
A second question, it is my understanding that an initial NS v5 release did not reload pages after "allow" changes were made (which was a "bug") and has been since fixed. Is there a specific "Reset" that helps address this problem since the "fix" build was released?
The inital NS v5 did in fact reload pages after "allow"changes were made, however - the problem was there - sometimes it didn't.

The setting for automatic reloading can be found in NS options, first Tab, General - my settings are as far as I know the default for that, which is: "renew concerned (? hope that is a somewhat ok translation) pages when a permission has changed" as well as the one below: "Only renew actual tab" both ticked on.
So maybe you can solve that part of your question without having to push a reset button, just tick the boxes.

Best regards,
Kris

Reset buttons?

What does the "Reset" button do in each "Options" page?

Options pages with "Reset" buttons:

General - ?
Whitelist - ?
Embeddings - ?
Appearance - ?
Notifications - ?
Advanced - ?

I'm presuming each "Reset" button only applies to the specific page that the "Reset" button is located and not the entire NoScript settings.

If so is the "Reset" button just returning to "default" settings for each specific page (i.e. the way NoScript was installed)? And in that case, the "Whitelist" Reset button would presumably clear all entries in the "Whitelist" for example? (it has been reported that this "reload" issue persists)

A second question, it is my understanding that an initial NS v5 release did not reload pages after "allow" changes were made (which was a "bug") and has been since fixed. Is there a specific "Reset" that helps address this problem since the "fix" build was released?
