Update: Note that crash just occurred with NoScript disabled. Using Cookie Monster. I no longer believe this is a NoScript issue but a Mozilla Add-On issue. Also, please note that I have edited the below for format (bold) and the last four lines which were displaced (out of order).
Preamble:
This happens in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx. I have had this problem in Beta1, Beta2, and now the RC. I believe this to be an issue between NoScript and Xorg. This is repeatable in Kubuntu as well as Xubuntu. This does not happen in Linux Mint 8 Helena Xfce CE, nor does it happen in Debian 5.0.4 KDE. I no longer have Xubuntu Lucid Lynx installed so all troubleshooting will be done from Kubuntu Lucid Lynx, currently at RC development stage. This happens on two laptops: one with an nVidia card and one with an ATI card. I've tried new profiles, running with NoScript as the only extension (including disabling the Ubuntu Firefox Modifications).
Finally, I've listed bug reports with Ubuntu (Launchpad #551754) and KDE (Bugzilla #235084) but not yet with Xorg as I am assuming (for the moment) that the Ubuntu team will follow-up on Xorg (xorg-server, specifically) and do not wish to duplicate efforts needlessly. My reason for posting this here is to help identify the problem on the NoScript side. However, I personally have a fundamental problem with xorg-server being vulnerable to a crash from an application add-on.
FAQ-requested data:
This occurs everywhere, including
http://noscript.net/
The steps needed to reproduce the error are to install (or run live CD?) the Ubuntu Lucid Lynx release candidate. This error occurs in Kubuntu and Xubuntu and seems to be an xorg-server crash based on troubleshooting.
Tools > Error Console shows... nothing related to noscript. In fact, there are no errors before or after the crash. The messages that appeared were there before the crash with at most duplicates of what was there, but again -- nothing related to noscript.
