Not sure why they call it "classic", because they keep changing it. They should give a new name to the changed versions and leave "classic" alone. I have several Yahoo accounts: one for friends and family; one for signing up to sites with trusted admins, like this one; and one that is a "spam magnet", for when I don't know whom I'm dealing with, ordering from, etc., or whether they will sell, rent, trade, or post my email address on the web and the front page of all major newspapers. #3 does a very good job of keeping spam out of 1 and 2.
All three are Classic, but at any given moment, they may not work the same. Recently, one of them (#2), "improved" by adding Chat and IM, even though I didn't want it, didn't sign up for it, etc. Takes extra time to load, etc. They had a feedback form, and I told them where they could stick their improvements. The relevance to your post is that for a while, several standard mail features were broken, or took terribly long to load a page or even send mail. Once I had to copy the message I wanted to send, save it as a text on my desktop, log out, and log back in, cuz it was hanging forever. That worked. Then other problems kept popping up. As Nan said, they are "working on it". But this is *NOT* a NoScript issue in all likelihood. (It might be scripting-related, but it's their job to write their scripts correctly rather than force you to disable NS.) I suggest sending a query to Yahoo Customer Care, and sending your opinions in the survey.
In the meantime, if you're crippled, open another free Yahoo account and see if it works. Good luck -- I'm as frustrated as you are with the continual "improvements" to YC.
