I have the same problem as all the others mentioned here. Please release the 11.07 stable version ASAP.

If so, I'm gonna release 11.0.7 stable ASAP, thanks.

I have the same problem, I just noticed that disabling and enabling it again solves it temporarily (if you close Firefox you have to do it again), so it's a little workaround if you don't want to install the RC.

If you update to a dev version (e.g. 11.0.7rc1), NoScript will be updated to new versions of the dev channel. If you do not want to permanently switch to the dev channel, you can go back to the release channel just by installing a release version (e.g. 11.0.7) again. I have switched between the dev and release channels several times myself and never experienced any problem caused by that.

You may also create a new browser profile just to test the 11.0.7rc1 and delete it afterwards. This is what I usually do, if I want to test something.

rc will remain rc, but you can simply install the release once it's out (which will put you back on release).

Question: If i manually update to this RC1 version what will be in the future? Will my NoScript be automatically updated to next production version afterwards? Or will it be automatically to all RC versions?
I would prefer to remain on production so maybe I just wait a day or two and this 11.0.7rc1 becomes 11.0.7 prod? Any ETA?

11.0.7rc1 should be much better, can you confirm?
If so, I'm gonna release 11.0.7 stable ASAP, thanks.

OSX High Sierra
FF 70.0.1
NoScript 11.0.6

FF process is consuming a LOT of CPU. Narrowed it down to NoScript. Installed 11.0.7RC1 and the issue disappeared.
Also Note - mDNSResponder also had high utilization when NoScript was high. Disabled NoScript 11.0.6 - CPU utilization for FF normalized, and mDNSResponder disappeared. Re-enabled NoScript and FF CPU utilization went high AND mDNSResponder popped back up with high utilization.

Thanks for NoScript and 11.0.7rc. Good luck.

I can confirm that as well. Now, after updating from 11.0.6 to 11.0.7rc1, FF 70.0.1 x64 (on Win10 x64) runs quite normally without continuous load and pivots at about 4-11% at about 1-3%.

FF also starts definitely faster and loads all my tabs much faster. I also have a lot of them in 13 groups.

Been running 11.0.7rc1 and so far it seems to have resolved the issues. Everything is much faster now.

I also confirm CPU problems. In my case I noticed a firefox thread consuming 100% CPU. With about:performance I narrowed it down to FoxyProxy. However, FoxyProxy consumes so much CPU only because it is writing a flood of queries to its log (this is just a snapshot, mind the timestamps):

Code: Select all

https://sync-messages.invalid	Default Use proxy for all URLs	08:56:53:545
https://sync-messages.invalid	Default Use proxy for all URLs	08:56:53:551
https://sync-messages.invalid	Default Use proxy for all URLs	08:56:53:558
https://sync-messages.invalid	Default Use proxy for all URLs	08:56:53:564
https://sync-messages.invalid	Default Use proxy for all URLs	08:56:53:569
https://sync-messages.invalid	Default Use proxy for all URLs	08:56:53:577
These queries originate at NoScript. Reloading NoScript helps for a bit, but the problem comes back after a while.

I have the same problem here. In my case I could narrow the problem to the following situation:

The spike in processor activity appears only when I load html-files that reside in the home directory on my own computer with NoScript enabled.

When I disable NoScript and load the file, there are no processor spikes.

Other html-files that I access on the web don't cause any adverse symptoms, especially no processor spikes.

It doesn't make a difference wether I configure the html-file in NoScript as "default", "trusted", "temp. trusted" or "untrusted".

Here are two screenshots with the "top"-utility, one with Noscript disabled and the other one with NoScript enabled. The html-file is configured as "trusted" in NoScript.

The file is only a basic html-file with header and footer. It is otherwise empty. Especially there are no scripts in it.

I merged the two screenshots into one image.

OS: Linux
Firefox version: 60.0.9esr (64bit)
NoScript version: 11.0.6
Other installed addons: Adblock plus, Vimium

FF 70.0.1 x64, NoScript 11.0.6, Win 7 x64
Confirm to report the same issue. Spiked CPU usage randomly over all FF threads.
And even worse - huge memory leak in one of them.
Disabling NoScript gives normal CPU usage and stops memory leaking.

I came here to report the same issue.
EDIT: No, the previously mentioned workaround didn't help, it took a bit longer but it's back anyway.

Grux wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2019 4:37 pm As I said, disabling/reenabling NoScript stops the CPU spiking for me for that session as well, no matter how long I keep the browser open after that. It seems to be tied in with starting the browser back up (with the same profile) after closing it.
These hints are very useful for narrowing the investigation, thank you.
