[RESOLVED] Can't attach files

Post by khunsisyphus »

No Script has worked great for ages.. until recently when it started preventing me from attaching files to emails (doc, pdf). When I disabled No Script I could attach files again no problem. I am on a Mac mini (Intel). Any ideas what the issue might be?

Thanks,

K.

E-mails in a webmail service? Which one? And attaching how, using drag or drop or using a filepicker dialog?

Sorry, I should have specified exactly what happens. I click on "attach file" in Gmail, navigate to the file I want to attach, click on "open", whereupon I get a pop-up from No Script containing lots of gobbledegook (although the word 'flashwave' is in there somewhere I think) and Firefox freezes. I then have to "force quit" the application and re-launch. I think the issue is to do with Firefox-No Script, since I tried with Safari and everything works fine.

Please restart Firefox. Then, with the freshly-opened browser, attempt this sequence of actions again. When the symptom occurs, could you please open Firefox Error Console (Ctrl+Shift+J), click "Errors", and copy any red Error messages and paste them here? Also please click "Messages", and post here any messages relating to NoScript, thanks.

A screenshot of your screen with that pop-up would also be useful.

One more step to try is to create a clean profile from scratch. Install only NoScript, leaving all of the default settings.
If the problem then disappears, then there is likely either an extension conflict or profile corruption.

Q.E.D!

I disabled all the Firefox add-ons and re-enabled them one by one. The one that prevented me attaching an email was called Flasblock. I have since removed it and now everything seems to be back to normal.

Thanks again for your help with this.

Kind regards,

Dale

Since NoScript provides capability to block Flash, there is no reason to have both installed anyway. It's certainly understandable that they fought over each Flash object. ;)

Will mark as resovled. And thank you for the kind words and confirmation of proof. :)
