Google search button no response
Google search button no response
I'm using NoScript 1.1 with google.com on my whitelist (browser Firefox 3.6.8). When I click on the "Google search button", nothing happens. The "I'm feeling lucky" button works however. For troubleshooting, I disabled NoScript and everything works again. Is there any fix to this problem?

Re: Google search button no response
It only affects the US Google.com site but it works on other google sites, e.g. google.co.uk.

Re: Google search button no response
I originally have google.com on my whitelist. This whitelist entry is causing the problem. If I remove google.com from the whitelist, the google search button will work again. Is this a bug?

Re: Google search button no response
Google.com is whitelisted in NoScript by default. The Google Search button works for me with google.com whitelisted.noscriptfan1 wrote:I originally have google.com on my whitelist. - I'm looking at http://www.google.com/. Is that the page you're talking about?
- What version of NoScript are you using? Please update to the latest development build -- which is currently NoScript 2.0rc6.
- Step 5) of the General Troubleshooting Instructions includes creating a new Firefox profile, installing NoScript and no other extensions or themes, and testing with the default Firefox and NoScript settings. Did your problem persist after doing this?

Re: Google search button no response
Same problem as noscriptfan1, no response to Google Search button with Firefox 3.6.8 and NoScript 1.10. Disabling NoScript fixes the problem. Tried removing the google.com whitelist entry to no effect. Installed development release 2.0rc7 but no improvement. If I switch to iGoogle, everything works fine; back to Classic Google and it breaks. Since I don't want to work with iGoogle, I have no choice but to disable NoScript.

Re: Google search button no response
Looks like it has something to do with google.com's cookie. I deleted it, cleared cache and hit refresh. This temporary fix makes google work again for a while but the problem eventually comes back and I have to do the same drill again.

Re: Google search button no response
Problem seemed to be fixed with 2.0rc8 but is broken again with rc9 and 2.0 from the Mozilla add-ons site.

Re: Google search button no response
Recanting part o my previous post, I find that 2.0rc8 is not a solution. Re-installing that release did not re-fix the problem. Like noscriptfan1, I tried deleting the google.com cookies and found that the problem went away (for the moment). The PREF cookie seemed to make no difference. It was only when I deleted the ID cookies that function returned.

Re: Google search button no response
I updated to NoScript 2.0. The problem is gone for now. Don't know if this is a permanent fix.

Re: Google search button no response
So this is a problem that seems to be affecting only two people? Now with noscriptfan1 up and running with 2.0, am I the only one? Installed 2.0.1rc1 and still have the problem but if I delete the Google NID cookie, the problem stops immediately. After a while, the problem returns. For the time being, I will set CookieCuller to remove that cookie each time I quit Firefox, since it doesn't appear to contain any information affecting my searches.

Have you got any Google-related or cookie-related extension? Were you already using Cookie culler?ErictheK wrote:So this is a problem that seems to be affecting only two people?

Re: Google search button no response
I've got the same issue - Firefox 3.6.8, NoScript 2.0 - Google Search button is "dead" on the main Google page. If I delete Google from the NoScript Whitelist, the button begins to function. If I allow Google back in the NoScript Whitelist, the "Google search" button again stops working.
One bit of irony is that I have to allow Google scripts to run in order for the ReCaptcha applet to enable posting.

Re: Google search button no response
I just upgraded to the latest development build (2.0.1rc1) and the Google Search button is now working with Google allowed by NoScript. I would have tried the development build yesterday, but the link to it wasn't working.
