[RESOLVED] NoScript 1.9.9.05 and Yahoo mail problem
I'm having trouble with version 1.9.9.05 and Yahoo mail. Every time I log in, I get a second "Verify password" screen. This problem doesn't happen with version 1.9.9.01. I have tried disabling all other add-ons, uninstalling them, and using a portable version of Firefox with just NoScript installed. Installed and portable Firefox is version 3.5.3.

Re: NoScript 1.9.9.05 and Yahoo mail problem
Which Yahoo mail version? I use Classic, and I get the same thing sometimes, not at others. Yahoo is constantly tweaking their software, sometimes annoyingly so, but I think this is just them trying to add an extra step of security against bots, brute force attacks, etc. For what it's worth, I've noticed this for at least a few months, which would put it back to, uh ... (Giorgio, we need dates on the changelog, please!) I'm still at v. 1.9.9.01 (lazy), and see this fairly often.
Since I get this sometimes but not others, seemingly randomly, and have seen it through a number of versions of NS, I don't think it's a NS issue, just Yahoo trying to be careful. You could ask Yahoo support to verify this.

These links will give you the dates you need. It looks like the first one will be sufficient for your purpose in this instance.

Re: NoScript 1.9.9.05 and Yahoo mail problem
Alan, thanks. I've bookmarked the first one. However, it means TA AMO, and the page takes a loooong time to load. The changelog is much faster and more convenient.
Is there any special reason why dates are *not* included in the changelog at NS Home? It would be only a few extra keystrokes.
Edit: And the AMO link doesn't have dates of dev builds, either, only official releases. Dates of all builds might be useful at times.

Noscript/Yahoo Mail login issue
I've received a report from a Mozillazine forum member about a Yahoo mail problem introduced in NoScript 1.9.9.04. He says it's still present in 1.9.9.05. It sounds like the problem goes away if he sticks with the current AMO update, NoScript 1.9.9.01.
GrailKnight wrote:Hello Alan,
I was reading about a Noscript/Yahoo Mail issue with the latest Noscript v1.9.9.05 and can verify that this issue started with:
v 1.9.9.04
==========================================================================
x Fixed header cloning bug in internal redirections
x Better management of C++ style comments in InjectionChecker
x Fixed legacy frames retargeting bug (thanks Andrew Fisher for reporting)
I was too busy to report this and do not have an account at Giorgio's Noscript Forum.
I was hoping you would let him know that the above version is where I noticed the Yahoo issue. Yahoo keeps throwing up a message saying that I must have logged out on another page and to refresh the page with eventually takes me to a signed in email page as well as MyYahoo. For now I am using the Official Release until this issue is resolved.

Funny you should mention that.
I've been getting this basically non-stop.
Don't recall offhand if it was affecting SeaMonkey 1.1.18 in addition to SeaMonkey 2, or solely SeaMonkey 2?

Does it go away if you back out to NoScript 1.9.9.01? I can't verify it myself since I don't use Yahoo mail any longer.therube wrote:Funny you should mention that.

Re: Noscript/Yahoo Mail login issue
Funny you should ask. As I mentioned at therube's link, I'm still at .01 and encounter it randomly, as I have for some weeks or months and some number of official NS releases. Hence I chalked it up to Yahoo being more careful.Alan Baxter wrote: Does it go away if you back out to NoScript 1.9.9.01? I can't verify it myself since I don't use Yahoo mail any longer.
FWIW, especially for non-US users who probably aren't aware of this, last year the Yahoo mail account of a candidate for Vice-President of the United States was hacked and publicized. It was her own fault, in that she had foolishly chosen "secret question" answers that were easily guessable from her high school yearbook, birth and marriage certificates, and other publicly-available information. Nevertheless, Yahoo! seemed embarrassed, and has been doing considerable tweaking since, in many different areas, some of which I consider to be of dubious value, and some simply annoying.
I mention this only as a possible motivation for Yahoo doing random -- or continual -- double-checks against bot attacks, etc.

I use Yahoo mail Classic and I've never had this problem before installing 1.9.9.05.

Re: Noscript/Yahoo Mail login issue
With 1.9.9.01 I can "generate" some errors, but not (yet) the request to verify my password.
(With 1.9.9.05 I almost surely would have gotten a verification request by now.)
These generally seem to have to do with Search & I don't know if they are NoScript related or not.
(Generally, in addition to any number of Yahoo tabs, if I search, then open some of the search items into tabs, then return to the search window, select a number of the results for deletion, then click the Delete button will generally give you the "search failed" message.)

Sorry. Your search failed. is NOT a NoScript issue.

Sign out of Yahoo.
Reinstall 1.9.9.05.
Log in to Yahoo, & I am immediately asked (before anything else) to Please verify your password.
Sign out/Log in does not do this repeatedly, but it did do (at least once) as described above.

I could have told you that.therube wrote:Sorry. Your search failed. is NOT a NoScript issue.

I've said this before, but no one seems to be listening, so I'll say it again: This has been happening randomly to me for some time, long before either .95 or even .91.Reinstall 1.9.9.05. Log in to Yahoo, & I am immediately asked (before anything else) to Please verify your password.
Since no one else seems to have done so, I've contacted Yahoo! support, and have been promised a reply within 24 hours.
Also combining the two identical topics.
