How to get file sizes before downloads

On right clicking the flashing FG icon usually some entries are having lot of ?????? marks. You tube always gives the choice of bitrate downloads , but in FG they do not seem to be easily displayed or I am missing some clue.

It is only once the clip "exists" (playback has started), that it is "seen" by FlashGot.
Likewise, it is not until you change the bitrate that the clip with the new bitrate is "seen".
(Depending if the clip restarts from the beginning when you change bitrates, you may need to manually adjust a "?start=" like value to capture the entire clip.)

Size is not known until playback has started.
(Suppose it is possible on certain sites to garner that information ahead of time?)

As i mentioned earlier , I was downloading files from Youtube. Even while the file was running the file size in FG is only question marks. The snap is 2 days old but it is relevant even today, 2 hours ago.

FlashGot media shows question marks instead of the file size when the latter cannot be determined in advance, usually because the server sent no Content-Length HTTP header.

Yeah I have been getting the ??? alot lately on sites that traditionally used to work and show actual sizes. Its anything from a 2 MB file to a 100 MB file, makes no difference. I hate when sites change something so benign and asinine for no good reason.

Just to note, that sometimes if you jump forward in the clip, then back, it may at that point pick up a size, giving you at least an approximation of the full file size.

Work-around for Youtube (it works with your sample at least) in latest development build 1.4.8rc1.

@therube, yeah but that's how I came across that really slippery bug that Giorgio fixed a while back which caused the infinite loop. I just don't care,I download it and find out how big it was when its done. Now Giorgio has a fix, so let's see if that does it.
