Re: http://localhost Blocked.

Try Perspectives.... Why, I just might do that! (I just did). Still, though, Perspectives does not do anything to protect you against a poorly run website.... It's always the human at one end or the other, and nothing we can do about that (sigh). ... but it looks like yet another good layer of &quo...

Re: http://localhost Blocked.

instead of trusting that every single certificate authority pre-installed by Mozilla did it for you (because if a single one is dodgy, that's enough to produce a certificate that your browser will trust without question). Yes, that's a bad problem for all browsers. I used to delete the dodgy-lookin...

Re: CAPTCHA error when trying to post on 4chan

Maybe you mistyped the captcha. Those suckers practically drive me blind. Seriously, when you allow 4chan, ensure that all of these are (temporarily, if you like) allowed. It will take a few generations of page reload to see them all: +4chan.org +http://ajax.cloudflare.com -http://www.google....

Re: Script permissions are not storing for sites

Thanks for fast reply. No I'm not running Firefox sandboxed or virtualized. I don't even know how to set it up to do either of those. You would need a third-party program to do that. I just had to eliminate the possibility. Also I don't know whether I have write permissions to prefs.js or not and I...

Re: Noscript won't block embeddings

Also it would be nice if we could do this through the GUI... You can. http://noscript.net/faq#qa1_12 which shouldn't be so hard I think, you just need to make "Allow scripts globally" allow only javascript, and allow objects by whitelisting pages. Otherwise this option is misleading, for ...

Re: http://localhost Blocked.

I don't trust anyone who signs their own security certificate. That is an interesting experience. Please do see whether allowing localhost in NS changes the situation, and let us know. But I don't see how scripting is involved there, especially since it *will* allow the exception temporari...

Re: Script permissions are not storing for sites

Only for some sites, but will store for others? If it won't store for any, do you run the browser sandboxed or virtualized, and/or do you have write permissions to prefs.js file and your profile in general? If only for some sites: Please create a clean profile from scratch. Install only NoScript, le...

Re: Noscript won't block embeddings

I want to allow Javascript on all sites, and allow embedded objects only on whitelisted sites. If you allow Javascript on all sites, then you have in fact whitelisted all sites. If you want to create whitelists for specific plugins at specific sites, please go to NoScript "Features" Page ...

Re: Is having both NoScript and Ghostery add-on redunant?

But how do you know which scripts to configure in CAPS, since Fx doesn't display them? JSView add-on will, but in far too much detail: full file path to 100 scripts from the same domain vs. allow/deny script from somesite.com, + "embedded". OK, so you're completing these tasks while blind...

Re: Top Level Domain Support

If you have a complete list of the registered subdomains, then you could export your whitelist, add the list of subdomains, and re-import it. Unfortunently, I do not have such a list. This is why I needed to use the tld. I am not the controller of such things, only a lowly scripter. The controller ...

Re: Is having both NoScript and Ghostery add-on redunant?

Please tell me how Firefox, on its own, can allow *selective" script blocking, or even display the list of scripts being requested. Just to play devil's advocate: you can configure CAPS policies manually. Just like you can mow your lawn by biting it off with your teeth, cook a spit roast using...

Re: Top Level Domain Support

I need to be able to whitelist a top level domain, not just second and third level subdomains. How can I do this? I have added a top level domain, but it appears to be ignored. That is because whitelisting a TLD is virtually the same as " Scripts Globally Allowed (dangerous)" , because yo...

Re: Is having both NoScript and Ghostery add-on redunant?

Thanks for clarifying Ghostery's sequence of actions, and for the discussion topics. Additional note about redirect disabling in Firefox settings: AFAIK, you can also disable everything NS does through options tinkering, yet there is still NS... Please tell me how Firefox, on its own, can allow *sel...

Re: Is having both NoScript and Ghostery add-on redunant?

You can also block redirections through Firefox's own preferences, under Advanced - General.. I meant to mention that, too, but it slipped through the neurons and out the ears. I like having both Firefox and NS act on redirects, and those two certainly seem to be enough not to require an add...
